When preparing for the birth of your child, it’s important to have all the necessary supplies and documents to help streamline your admission and discharge process. Follow our guidelines to help you get ready for your personal labor and delivery journey.
Preparing for Delivery – What to Bring From Home
- Your photo identification
- Current insurance information
- Credit card for spouse or significant other, so he or she may purchase food trays
- Name, address and phone number of the pediatrician you have chosen to care for your baby
- A camera to capture special moments with your newborn
- Your own breastfeeding pillow, if you have one
- A nursing bra or camisole
- Waterproof flip flops
- Name and city of the pharmacy you use for prescription medications, as your doctor may prescribe medications when you are discharged from the hospital
What to Bring for Your Baby
- A written record of the name you have chosen or are considering for your infant, as you will be asked shortly after delivery to complete the birth certificate applications
- An outfit, shirt and blanket for going home
- Car seat. Please have it correctly installed in your car prior to delivering your baby. Leave it in your car when you come to the hospital to be admitted. Our staff is not certified to install or check car seats.
Items Provided By the Hospital for Your Baby
- Diapers and wipes for your baby during your hospital stay
- Hat and one new receiving blanket to use at discharge
How to Prepare for Discharge
- Our discharge time is 11:00 am. Make sure the person taking you home arrives on time.
- If you need medications at home, the prescription from your doctor will be filled at the pharmacy you designated upon your admittance to the hospital.
- Please make any medical requests the day before your discharge date
