Eating disorders—anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating and others—are complex diseases that require a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
Many factors contribute to development of these conditions, including a biologic pre-disposition, physiologic consequences of semi-starvation, aberrant nutritional patterns, cultural pressures, family dysfunction, and psychological stressors as well as psychological make-up. Recovery is best achieved when each of these issues is addressed through individualized treatment plans.
The Center for Anorexia and Bulimia at our Herrick campus in Berkeley is the Bay Area's only full-spectrum, psychiatric eating disorder program for both adolescents and adults. We are fully accredited by the Joint Commission, which means that we have met the highest standards for quality care.

For information on the Inpatient Program, call (510) 204-4405.
The program bridges outpatient and inpatient levels of care for people with anorexia and bulimia. It is staffed by qualified and caring professionals with experience treating thousands of people with eating disorders and is successful at treating individuals who have failed in their past attempts to heal from their eating disorders.
The goal of the eating disorder program is for all participants to be well on the way to full and sustained recovery and to minimize risk of relapse. We are very successful at treating individuals who have failed in other specialty treatment centers.
The Center for Anorexia and Bulimia is located in Berkeley (in the East Bay area) and is within a 10-minute BART ride from the cities of Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito, and Richmond.
