The highly skilled and caring team that dedicates itself to saving the lives of our most vulnerable patients is supported by the technology and clinical resources of Sutter Health. When a child needs expert medical care, experience counts. In an average year, Sutter Santa Rosa:
- Manages about 300 high risk pregnancies
- Delivers over 1,800 babies
- Cares for about 200 babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
This team of neonatologists and nurses also travels by ambulance or helicopter to outlying areas to bring high risk pregnant women or newborns to our Level III NICU. Babies previously transported to San Francisco now get to the care they need, closer to home, in half the time.
Premature and severely compromised infants are automatically enrolled in our High-Risk Clinic. Babies who develop neurological problems, lung disease, or who have been exposed to drugs during the mother’s pregnancy also receive developmental assessments and are monitored for up to 3 years to assure that they develop normally and receive appropriate intervention as needed.
Funding is being sought to upgrade equipment and technology that will help us continue to provide the very best care possible to these precious young lives.
Your gift to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit saves lives and ensures the future of the most sick and fragile babies!
