As a parent, you want the best for your child’s health, growth and well-being. But sometimes, it’s hard to know how best to respond to your child’s ever-changing needs. Sutter’s pediatric classes and support groups can help ease your concerns and answer your questions.
We offer a variety of classes, lectures, special programs and support groups for all parents – from first-time parents with a newborn to parents with teenagers. Our goal is to give you the tools you need to make informed parenting decisions, as well as guide your children toward healthy life choices.
Specialized healthcare professionals lead all of our educational programs. You can choose from a wide range of topics, spanning from breastfeeding basics and child development to CPR, available at some locations or through community partners.
Our parenting support groups create a cooperative environment where you can meet other parents coping with similar issues, share information and offer each other encouragement.
We also offer some specialized classes at certain locations and support groups for children and teens facing life changes, such as:
- Preparing for a new sibling.
- Support groups for grief and loss.
- Stress management through mindfulness and yoga.
Additionally, we offer support services through our Child Life program, including facility dogs, educational support for hospitalized children and more. To help our patient families cope with unexpected loss, the Children's Center at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento offers a variety of compassionate resources to help each family member through the grieving process.
