At Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, we’ve made stroke and neurovascular care a top priority. Multidisciplinary care teams at our Regional Stroke Center are dedicated to providing quick diagnostic services, advanced treatment and comprehensive rehabilitation services.
We’re proud to offer:
- A designated stroke unit focused on stabilizing patients and helping you or your loved one begin the rehabilitation process. Physical and occupational therapists as well as speech and language pathologists are part of the treatment team and provide rehabilitation to optimize recovery.
- An Acute Rehabilitation Stroke Program designed to increase your independence and restore your ability to care for yourself as much as possible. The intensive program is recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and offers specialized services, such as a therapeutic aquatics program, comprehensive swallowing program, community reintegration support and home evaluation services.
- Community education programs and stroke support groups.
The Joint Commission has certified Alta Bates Summit as a Primary Stroke Center, signifying that our medical center follows best practices for stroke care. In 2016, our center also earned its seventh consecutive Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for outstanding adherence to national stroke treatment guidelines.
