When you have a serious health condition, receiving support and encouragement from others who’ve been there can make the journey feel easier and less lonely. When you join a support group, you’ll meet other people who know what it’s like to be in your shoes and can offer insight about what may be ahead.
You don’t have to be a current Sutter patient to participate in our support groups—many are free and open to the community. Our goal is to create an environment where you’ll receive comfort and encouragement.
Support Groups for Your Condition
We offer support groups throughout the Sutter Health network to help you connect with a community of people who are in similar situations as you.
At Sutter Lakeside Hospital, we offer a monthly stroke and wellness support group, led by a certified social worker. This group allows you to form a community with other people facing similar challenges. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend the support group as well. The group meets in our Hospital Conference Room and is free and open to the public. For more information, please call Case Management at (707) 262-5033.
We also provide support groups for both adults and young people who experience the loss of a loved one.
Support Groups for Parents
If you're a new mom, we can help connect you to community resources, including support groups for those suffering from postpartum depression or anxiety. Please call the Family Birth Center at (707) 262-5087 to learn more.
