The CPMC Notkin Family Breast Cancer Recovery Program provides seamless support services to assist you and your loved ones through cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Our program is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team focused on treating you with a personalized approach.
Through compassionate one-on-one appointments and telephone consultations at the Breast Health Center, our highly trained breast cancer nurse navigators help you understand treatment options, focus on symptom management and improve your quality of life. Nurse Navigators provide:
- Education for pathology and lab results.
- Doctor appointment scheduling and care coordination.
- Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy preparation.
- Access to clinical trials.
- Symptom management techniques.
- Post-surgery comforts (such as free camisoles).
- Breast reconstruction referrals.
- Lymphedema education and referrals.
- Exercise guidance, including arm exercises after surgery.
- Fertility preservation referrals.
- Menopause symptom management without hormones.
- Survivorship Program follow-up.
- Genetic counseling referrals.
Our health psychology team can help you meet the emotional challenges of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Support groups offer a safe forum to express feelings and gain perspective. One-on-one, couples and family counseling sessions are also available.
Our registered dietitian provides on-site or telephone consultations to review your current diet and teach you how to prepare and care for yourself during and after cancer treatment.
Our licensed clinical social worker is available to assist you in managing socioeconomic issues, transportation, help with financial counseling and access to community resources.
