Dr. Holt is a transplant hepatologist at California Pacific Medical Center who specializes in liver transplantation, general hepatology and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
At CPMC, he serves as the director of the Fatty Liver Program and the Associate Program Director of the gastroenterology fellowship.
After graduating from Princeton University in 1999, Dr. Holt attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Subsequently, Dr. Holt completed fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology in 2012 and 2013, both at CPMC.
Dr. Holt’s research interest is in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), including as principal investigator for both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials. Dr. Holt has maintained a CPMC NAFLD cohort since 2013, and has been an investigator in eight prospective NASH clinical trials since 2014. Dr. Holt also works to increase awareness and education about NAFLD and NASH among primary care providers and patients in the community.
