Dr. Armen Moughamian is a neurologist who cares for people with neurodegenerative brain illnesses including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as movement disorders such as Huntington’s disease and spinocerebellar ataxias.
Board certified in neurology, Dr. Moughamian is Medical Director of the Ray Dolby Brain Health Center at Sutter’s CPMC.Dr. Moughamian studies the development and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as investigational and U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatments for these illnesses.
He has authored numerous publications and presented internationally on new approaches to understanding the pathogenesis and management of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other neurodegenerative diseases. At Sutter, he will help lead clinical trials assessing the efficacy of new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Dr. Moughamian received his medical degree and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, through the Medical Scientist Training Program. He completed a medical internship and neurology residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), followed by a research fellowship and clinical work at UCSF’s Memory and Aging Center.
