Checking In

When you arrive at the hospital, please check in at the Information Desk in the main lobby. Please bring your identification, insurance information and any other documents that are helpful to our medical team, such as an Advance Directive, a list of your medications, glasses and hearing devices. If you will need the assistance of an interpretation service, please let us know in advance so we can have the service ready when you arrive. 

What to Expect

To make your stay with us as comfortable as possible, we want to let you know about some of the protocols we must follow, as well as an idea of what will be going on around you.

• While we understand that restful sleep is important to the recovery process, sometimes it is necessary for us to wake you during the night in order to check your blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and other vital statistics.
• You may have blood drawn in the morning or several times a day. Your physicians need these results to make treatment decisions and to monitor your condition.
• Nurses must have a physician's order before food, drink, medicine or other treatments can be given to you.
• You may hear unfamiliar noises coming from equipment in your room. Don't hesitate to ask a nurse if you have concerns about any sounds you may hear.
• The unit you are in may have special visiting limitations. Please ask a nurse if you have questions regarding visitation.
• Your nurse will check on you about once an hour. However, if you need your nurse at any time, use the call button located by your bed.
• Managing pain is important. While our goal is to keep you as comfortable as possible, it is not always possible to achieve total absence of pain.
• Patient safety is of utmost importance to us. One of the ways we accomplish this is to ask you to confirm your identification (name and date of birth) repeatedly throughout your stay.

Comforts from Home

We encourage patients and families to leave valuables at home, including cash, jewelry, laptop computers and other electronics. While you are welcome to bring items from home to help make your stay more comfortable, please know that Sutter Solano Medical Center cannot be responsible for your personal belongings. If you choose to bring in personal belongings, you do so at your own risk.

We encourage you to bring the following items for your comfort:

• Non-skid slippers and robe
• Comb or Brush
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Toiletries
• Reading and writing materials
• Any medical aids, such as hearing aids, eyeglasses and dentures
