Our Research
Collaborative studies in longevity, age-related illnesses and more
Cohort studies and clinical trials have significantly advanced knowledge of common, chronic illnesses that impact millions of older adults. Current studies offering research career opportunities include:
Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST)
This study looks at risk factors for the development and progression of knee osteoarthritis. A large cohort of individuals aged 50 and over are participating in follow-up visits to help investigators better understand how to prevent and treat knee osteoarthritis, one of the most common causes of disability in adults.
SOMMA (the Study of Muscle Mobility and Aging)
A study examining muscle tissue, blood, whole body imaging and other extensive examinations from nearly 900 women and men aged 70 and older.
Osteoporotic Fractures in Men Study (MrOS)
MrOS is a study of healthy aging in men with a particular focus on osteoporosis and fracture risk.
Comparative Effectiveness of Zolpidem and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in Rural Adults (COZI)
A study to determine if medications and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia are both effective for treating insomnia.
Longevity Consortium
The Longevity Consortium, funded by the National Institute on Aging for over 20 years is using advanced methods of genomics and proteomics to discover the basis of human longevity.
Trial of Parkinson’s and Zoledronic Acid (TOPAZ)
TOPAZ is an at-home study to help determine whether osteoporosis drug treatments may prevent fractures in older patients with Parkinson’s disease.
