When your health is compromised by morbid obesity, studies show that a comprehensive program and bariatric surgery provides the best chance to achieve significant, permanent weight loss. Doctors at Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation in Napa and Sonoma offer minimally invasive surgical options and a tailored program to ensure that you have the tools needed for success, including nutritional, emotional and exercise support. In return, we ask that the people we treat are committed to the program and participate fully in our pre-surgical conditioning and postoperative program.
The Start of Your Journey
All patients start their journey at one of our education seminars offered in Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Napa. These seminars are usually led by one of our surgeons, Allen Cortez, M.D. or Robert Woodbury, M.D. During these sessions, you’ll learn about obesity and our treatment pyramid based on sound scientific principles in lifestyle therapy, medical therapy and surgery. We’ll review the different surgical options, as well as expected outcomes. There is no charge for the seminar and no referral is needed. But we encourage you to register.
After you attend a seminar, our multidisciplinary team will review your detailed health questionnaire and then set up an appointment for you with one of our surgeons to evaluate if surgery is appropriate. Then we’ll design a comprehensive treatment plan using an individualized approach most suited to your unique health profile and needs. Our surgical procedures all have an excellent track record of safety and effectiveness, and include:
A Long-Term Relationship
Once you are accepted as a candidate for bariatric surgery, we’ll provide you with an extensive pre-operative program that includes nutrition, exercise, lifestyle education, psychological preparation and support group activities before surgery. We perform all our surgeries in our brand new state of the art minimally invasive surgical suites.
To help ensure success after surgery, our team follows up with you long-term indefinitely. You can also join our robust community support group, as well as our “walk with the doc” and cooking class programs.
Quality and Excellence
We are proud to be accredited under the Bariatric Surgery Center Network and participate in the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. This is the program developed by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to distinguish excellence.
