Loving Critical Care
When the start of your child’s life begins with a lengthy hospital stay, the impact on your entire family can be monumental. In these difficult situations, it's reassuring to know that California Pacific Medical Center provides specialized medical care and the latest in technology and advanced therapies to babies born prematurely or with serious health conditions.
Our dedicated team of skilled neonatologists, neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners, social workers and other specialists work in collaboration around-the-clock to provide state-of-the-art treatment for the more than 600 critically ill and premature infants we are privileged to care for each year.
CPMC is approved by California Children's Services (CCS) as a Regional (Level III) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), meaning that we have the highest level of equipment and professionals on staff.
The Neonatology Team at CPMC diagnoses and treats the entire spectrum of neonatal conditions, including surgical problems. Among the services we offer are the following:
- Working closely with the perinatal team to provide pre-birth consultation and maternal care for high-risk mothers
- Attendance at high-risk births occurring at California Pacific
- Transport to the CPMC for high-risk infants in the first four weeks of life
- NICU care of critically ill pre-term and full-term infants
- Neonatal surgery
Our care for your infant doesn’t stop once they are discharged from the NICU. We offer ongoing support and education programs for parents to help your baby develop. Our Whitney Newborn Follow-Up Clinic offers outpatient care for former NICU patients with potential neurodevelopmental disorders.
