Everyone faces difficult challenges when recovering from severe traumas as well illness and other disorders. At Alta Bates Summit Regional Acute Rehabilitation Center in Oakland, you can meet those challenges in a caring, comprehensive and intensive environment designed to improve your ability to perform daily tasks and increase your independence.
Our acute inpatient rehabilitation center specializes in treating stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological disorders, complex orthopedic conditions and multiple traumas for people ages 18 and older for:
- stroke
- brain injury
- spinal cord injury
- neurological disorders
- complex orthopedic conditions
- cancer
- multiple traumas
- organ transplant, including lung, heart, liver, kidney
We offer an intensive, structured, and interdisciplinary team approach that incorporates physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreation therapy, neuropsychology and social work. Our program includes 24-hour acute rehabilitation nursing care under the direction of skilled rehabilitation physicians.
All patients in our 58-bed unit participate in therapy for a minimum of three hours each day, at least five days per week, depending on their individual goals.
