Eden Outpatient Rehabilitation, a service of Eden Medical Center, is committed to offering the latest technology to help people with stroke and spinal cord injuries.
With more than 15 million people suffering stroke and 500,000 spinal cord injuries occurring each year, helping patients recover quickly has never been more important. Now with the first-of-its-kind EksoNR™ robotic exoskeleton, Eden Medical Center — the first to offer the device in a Sutter outpatient facility — can help you continue to improve walking ability after you leave the hospital.
The exoskeleton boosts strength to help you stand and relearn to walk. With the added support, you can slowly improve your step patterns, weight shifting and posture. Clinical research suggests including EksoNR-gait training during rehabilitation can improve patients’ walking speed and distance.
On average, most patients can expect to take 400 steps during their first training in the device. As the only FDA-approved exoskeleton, the EksoNR robotic exoskeleton has helped patients around the world take over 100 million steps and counting.
We’re grateful for the generosity of Eden patients, employees, doctors and community members, including the Rotary Club of Castro Valley, for their philanthropic partnership in making the EksoNR available at Eden Medical Center.
A physical therapy evaluation is needed to determine if you’re a candidate to use the exoskeleton in rehabilitation. For more information on the EksoNR robotic exoskeleton, contact our Eden Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility therapy manager at (510) 727-2798.
