At Sutter Rehabilitation Institute, your recovery is all about you. Our highly trained and experienced rehabilitation experts appreciate that you bring to your recovery a one-of-a-kind combination of personality, abilities, limitations and goals. Your doctor, nurses and therapists work with you personally, helping you to relearn previous skills, develop new skills or make lifestyle adjustments that help you get back to your life—even if this new life requires that you do things a bit differently.
We take the time to learn about your life before the accident or illness, including understanding your common daily tasks and activities that are especially important to you. We incorporate your typical tasks (such as showering, shaving and cooking) and the things you enjoy (such as gardening or playing the piano) into your daily rehabilitation. In addition, our rehabilitation professionals work with your family, providing education and training so they can deliver the support you need as you resume life beyond the Institute’s walls.
Our team meets once a week to collaborate on your care, discussing your progress and challenges so that we can align our efforts to ease and speed your recovery process. Our in-house team includes:
- Board-certified rehabilitation physician
- Internal medicine physician
- Neuropsychologist
- Nurse educator
- Case managers
- Social workers
- Dieticians
- Certified rehabilitation registered nurses (CRRN)
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Therapeutic recreational specialists
- Speech-language pathologists
Your personal physician and family also play vital roles in your recovery process.
As you consider your rehabilitation care, it’s helpful to understand the differences in receiving care from an inpatient rehabilitation facility versus a skilled nursing facility.
