Friendly canines are at the center of the animal-assisted therapy services offered at the Alta Bates Summit Rehabilitation Center. Therapy dogs assist in the recovery of patients from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and other diagnoses.
The popular therapy dogs take patients for walks, help with exercise, play fetch and generally improve the health and well-being of individuals in our rehabilitation program.
One patient stated after a prolonged hospitalization, "The dogs make me feel so much better. They bring the outside in."
