Sutter Surgical Hospital North Valley is proud to offer our patients the Mako® robotic-arm assisted technology for hip and knee joint replacement surgery. Sutter Surgical Hospital North Valley is the only hospital in the Yuba-Sutter area — and one of a small number of hospitals in Northern California — to offer the Mako robotic-arm assisted technology.
The robotic arm doesn’t actually perform surgery. Your orthopedic surgeon is still the skilled doctor controlling the robotic arm. But the system helps the doctor perform a more precise and personalized joint replacement, which can result in less pain and a shorter recovery time.
The technology’s software creates a 3D model of your hip or knee. This allows your surgeon to choose the best size and position for your new joint based on your unique anatomy. During the procedure, your doctor uses the 3D model to guide the robotic arm while also making any needed adjustments.
Using this advanced technology, your surgeon can perform total knee, total hip or partial knee replacements. It’s an innovative solution for people experiencing pain in their knees or hips from osteoarthritis or an injury. Clinical studies show that robotic-assisted surgery is less invasive than open surgery, usually resulting in less scarring and allowing you return to normal activity quicker with less pain.
The Joint Commission has certified Sutter Surgical Hospital North Valley for high quality in hip and knee joint replacements.
