With advanced epilepsy medical therapies and epilepsy surgical options, the Sutter Pacific Epilepsy Program at CPMC offers hope and support to patients whose epilepsy is not responsive to standard anti-seizure medications.
Our program has been recognized as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. This distinction recognizes that we have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest-level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for people with complex epilepsy.
We use the latest diagnostic technology, such as Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs), Wada testing and functional mapping imaging to monitor and assess the exact nature of your epilepsy or seizure. We provide a wide range of treatment options to improve seizure control. Surgical and non-surgical options can include:
- Anti-seizure medications
- Corpus callostomy
- Deep brain stimulation
- EEG monitoring for epilepsy
- Epilepsy Pacer
- Laser ablation
- Robotic Surgeries
- Temporal lobectomy
- Vagus nerve stimulation
See our Epilepsy Testing and Treatment FAQs for more information about video-EEG monitoring, Wada testing and epilepsy surgery.
CPMC is one of only a handful of hospitals in the United States offering epilepsy pacers. In 2014, research at California Pacific Neuroscience Institute played a key role in the United States Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the epilepsy pacer. CPMC led the medical trials, and its doctors have the most experience in the world implanting the devices.
In addition, our PEP Jobs Program offers one-on-one, individualized job placement services for those with epilepsy and other types of seizure disorders.
The Sutter Pacific Epilepsy Program is located at the CPMC Pacific Campus at 2100 Webster Street, Suite 115 in San Francisco. For more information call (415) 600-7880.
