Eden Medical Center’s Esophageal Disease Program combines the expertise of thoracic surgeons with gastroenterologists to provide the most advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques to treat conditions of the esophagus, such as:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or chronic heartburn
• Hiatal hernia
• Barrett’s esophagus
• Esophageal cancer

Minimally-Invasive Treatments

Eden Medical Center’s highly-trained team of experts use the latest technology in a state-of-the-art facility to provide minimally-invasive treatments for a wide range of esophageal conditions.

• Radiofrequency Ablation — This minimally-invasive technique uses thermal ablation to remove damaged tissue in patients with Barrett’s esophagus. If left untreated, Barrett’s esophagus can develop into esophageal cancer.
• Endoscopic Ultrasound — An imaging procedure which uses a long, flexible tube with a camera attached to the tip and allows doctors to see the esophagus and surrounding tissue, as well as to retrieve tissue for biopsy.
• LINX® — A minimally-invasive surgical technique to permanently treat GERD or hiatal hernia where a small, flexible band is placed around the lower esophageal sphincter to prevent stomach acid reflux.
