Changes in your bowel habits, abdominal discomfort and rectal bleeding are all potential signs of colorectal cancer—the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States according to the National Cancer Institute. As a Colorectal Cancer Center of Excellence, California Pacific Medical Center offers the latest and most reliable technology available to diagnose and treat colorectal cancer. Annually, our team provides medical and surgical management for more than 150 colorectal cancer patients.
Our health professionals collaborate to provide comprehensive care, from minimally invasive and robotic surgery to education and support groups. Each month our multidisciplinary panel of experts review every cancer case together, in meetings called tumor boards, to combine their collective expertise and craft an approach that best fits each patient. We’re also committed to participating in clinical trials to help you—and thousands of others—in the fight against cancer.
Ensuring you are comfortable and have the support you need while dealing with a colon cancer diagnosis is one of our top priorities. In addition to our diagnostic and treatment services, we offer support programs, such as financial and nutritional counseling. Our Colorectal Cancer Nurse Navigators meet with all individuals undergoing care, providing you with a better understanding of your disease and preparing you for treatment. Our doctors also provide pain management and palliative care to help keep you as comfortable as possible during treatment.
At CPMC, survivorship and long-term care is as important as active treatment. As part of our comprehensive offerings, we provide patients with the necessary tools to transition care back to your primary care physician. Our Nurse Navigators can assist by completing survivorship care plans, which include future cancer prevention and screening options and monitoring for long-term medication side effects.
