Emotional distress—anxiety, worry, feeling overwhelmed, sadness and depression—are relatively common experiences for women and their partners when trying to conceive, get pregnant or adjust after childbirth. Unfortunately, many women often endure these experiences in silence and isolation. Whether you are pregnant, have a new baby, are trying to conceive, or have had an abortion, we offer help and support.
At California Pacific Medical Center, our Perinatal Health and Wellness Program provides support services for families during times of tremendous transition. For new mothers especially, it can be difficult to recognize your struggles during this time, which is a time expected to be full of joy and hope. You may also sense stigma or feel shame about needing help. But if you’re asking yourself whether you should reach out for help, the answer is probably yes.
