Description
This study will gather insights from patients to inform Sutter Health Research, Development & Dissemination and Highland Hospital administrators of the priorities and experiences of patients in these settings, with an emphasis on the opportunity for innovation to help address the unmet clinical and social needs among the underserved in Alameda County.
Through in-depth interviews with patients and providers at the Highland Hospital emergency department, this project will explore: (1) the care experiences of patients who are high utilizers of the emergency department, (2) their unmet needs within the current ED system, and (3) barriers to non-emergency health care and social services that lead patients to seek emergency services as their source of regular care.
