Bradley Heaton
Chief Executive Officer Sutter Surgery Center Division
Bradley Heaton serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sutter Surgery Center Division (SSCD), responsible for the strategic direction, operational and financial performance of Sutter Health’s ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and one surgical hospital.
Brad is an experienced and driven healthcare executive known for building productive relationships with physicians, internal and external stakeholders, local government officials, and front-line ASC staff and management. During his tenure with SSCD, Sutter ASCs have consistently been recognized statewide and nationally for excellence and high-quality care.
Brad began his career with Sutter Health as an Administrative Fellow in the Sacramento Sierra Region in 2009 after completing his master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He has since held progressively responsible leadership roles as ASC Administrator, Regional Director and then Executive of Operations with SSCD in 2019.
Prior to joining Sutter Health, Brad served as Administrator of Preferred Family Clinic, a psychology practice in Provo, Utah, following his bachelor’s degree in Business Management (Finance) from Brigham Young University. He holds a Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) credential and currently serves as a board member and immediate past president of the California Ambulatory Surgery Association (CASA).
He enjoys playing tennis and basketball and spending time with his wife and seven children.
Peter Bravos, M.D., MBA, FASA
Chief Medical Officer Sutter Surgery Center Division
Peter Bravos, M.D., MBA, FASA serves as SSCD’s Chief Medical Officer. A board-certified anesthesiologist in Yuba City, Dr. Bravos’ practice focuses on interventional management of chronic pain conditions.
He first joined Sutter Health in 2005, serving as Sutter North Medical Group’s Chief of Anesthesiology and Pain Management for 14 years. During that same time, he was also Medical Director/Chief of Staff for Sutter North Ambulatory Surgery Center. For the last three years, he has served as Chief Medical Officer for Sutter North Medical Group.
In his role as SSCD CMO, Dr. Bravos is responsible for ensuring clinical excellence for Sutter Health’s network of 37 ambulatory surgery centers and one surgical hospital. He oversees systemwide clinical standards, including quality, safety, clinical operations, physician relations and physician education.
Dr. Bravos works to adopt best practices and reduce system variations. He directly oversees ASC performance.
In his spare time, Dr. Bravos enjoys riding his Peloton, reading and spending time with family, including his wife of 25 years and three children.
Kristi McCarthy, R.N.
Executive, Operations Sutter Surgery Center Division
Kristi McCarthy, R.N. serves as Executive, Operations, for Sutter Surgery Center Division, overseeing ambulatory surgery centers in the Greater San Francisco, Greater Silicon Valley and Greater Central Coast markets.
Kristi is a registered nurse with nearly 30 years of healthcare experience. She has worked in ambulatory surgery center leadership since 2005.
Kristi began her career with Sutter Health in 2014. In her latest role with SSCD, she served as Senior Director, Quality, overseeing quality improvement efforts and accreditation readiness for Sutter ASCs. She has also contributed greatly to design work in building new ASCs.
In her spare time, Kristi enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and golfing.
Rusty Marsh, MBA
Executive, Operations Sutter Surgery Center Division
Rusty Marsh, MBA, serves as Executive, Operations, for Sutter Surgery Center Division, overseeing ambulatory surgery centers and one surgical hospital in the Greater Sacramento, Greater Central Valley, and Greater East Bay markets.
Rusty has more than 25 years of management experience, including the last 18 years in health care operations. He began working with Sutter Health in 2014, serving as the Administrator of Apogee Surgery Center in Redding. In 2016, Rusty joined SSCD with responsibility overseeing ASCs in Roseville and Auburn. His leadership responsibilities have progressed with additional ASC leadership and oversight throughout the Sutter footprint, including Modesto, Sacramento and Oakland. Under his leadership, many of the ASCs and local teams have been recognized with awards for excellence.
Rusty earned an MBA from Pepperdine University, with an emphasis in corporate strategy and finance. He holds a Certified Administrator Surgery Center certification.
