Philosophy of Care
I am passionate about helping people make healthy lifestyle choices. I care for adults throughout their lifespan from health to complex illness. I am skilled in both preventative health care and acute and chronic disease management. I believe in the mind, body, spirit connection and that our relationships, our jobs, our communities, and our environment affect our health. I value other healing traditions and some alternative medicine practices that add to modern medicine. A trusting, therapeutic relationship is essential to good care. I try to be a guide through medical technology and specialty care, drawing upon the advances and knowledge of medical research balanced with what is right for an individual. I also believe we cannot control if we will get sick or encounter suffering but it is important to use our connection with other people to help us through those times.
Additional background information: Dr. Jain graduated from Stanford University with honors. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester where she had great mentors in primary care, spent time in India researching the health paradigm of Jain monks and edited a national poetry anthology on becoming a doctor. She completed her residency and chief residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where she started a medical humanities program that was presented at national conferences.
