Thank You for a Successful and Spectacular Event!
CPMC Foundation thanks our philanthropic community for making our first major in-person event since before the pandemic a success. That includes the more than 150 donors, physicians, and community members who attended the cocktail reception and dinner at the California Academy of Sciences on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
The program featured the prominent oncologist and Pulitzer-prize-winning author Siddhartha Mukherjee, M.D., in conversation with Chris Waugh, Chief Innovation and Design Officer at Sutter Health. Their wide-ranging discussion was inspired by Mukherjee’s forthcoming book The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human. Mukherjee discussed how the concept of the cell as the fundamental structure in all living organisms upended science more than 400 years ago and continues to redefine our understanding of disease and overall health. He also shared insight into how the pandemic affected medical professionals, the new opportunities it created for global partnership in research, and the importance of philanthropy in fostering advances in science and medicine.
