The Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland has been providing exceptional breast healthcare in our community since 2008. Now with continuing investment in Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center, we are expanding its reach to become a regional center of excellence to support all women in the East Bay.
This new model will focus on expanding access for all women to advanced mammography technology and extensive patient navigation support across all three Sutter Health-affiliated hospitals in the East Bay. These includes Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland and Berkeley, Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, and Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
We are focusing on three major areas of expansion over the next five years:
- Purchasing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment at each affiliate hospital in the East Bay
- Expanding the Patient Navigator Program to provide individualized assistance to women with breast cancer and their families so that they can receive the support services and resources they need
- Partnering with the community, to increase access to breast cancer screening for women in the East Bay
This expansion will make it possible for many more women in the East Bay to have access to support systems and the highest quality of care. This includes continuing to help reduce the anxiety and stress that many women face during breast health screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
We invite you to contribute to our long-term vision that will support women’s health throughout the East Bay.
