Our chapel is open until 9pm every day. It was designed to be a peaceful place of quiet refuge and of reflection and worship for everyone, regardless of their faith tradition or spiritual beliefs. Any one is welcome to come and pray, mediate, or simply just sit and reflect. The stained glass windows were designed for our hospital by Chico artist, Mick Needham. In our chapel there will always be rocks available to write a word, name or prayer on and place in the prayer rock bowls.
To get there: The Chapel is on the first floor at the end of the walking bridge from the main entrance. The chapel is meant to be a place of quiet and refuge and of reflection and worship. The patio has a flower garden and benches for you to enjoy.
The chapel patio, able to make full use of the stained glass, is on the patio adjacent to the chapel. It is also available until 9pm every day.
To get there: The glass doors that lead to the patio are in the hallway just before the chapel.
Underneath the walking bridge (between the main entrance and the elevator to the cafeteria) is our outdoor chapel and Prayer Garden. The Prayer Garden contains the prayer rocks from the bowls in our chapel as well as the rocks left at the nurses’ stations and in the gift shop. Our chaplains gather and place the rocks in the garden quarterly.
To get there: To access the outdoor chapel/rock garden, follow the sidewalk from front of the hospital toward the birth center. A sidewalk forks from that will lead you to the prayer garden.
The 24’ Medieval Labyrinth is a Chartres Cathedral replica. Labyrinths are tools for meditation and contemplation and have been used for millennia by cultures around the world. Patients, staff, and visitors are welcome to walk the labyrinth, or sit at its edge in contemplation all hours of the day.
To get there: The labyrinth is located in the courtyard adjacent to our telemetry unit.
Near our infusion center is a rock fountain surrounded by benches. This is a perfect place for prayer and contemplation outdoors. Prayer rocks from the infusion center are placed in this garden.
To get there: Enter the parking lot at 8 Medical Plaza Drive. The garden is on the corner of the parking lot, the Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento at Roseville infusion center and Medical Plaza Dr.
Next to the Sutter Rehab Clinic patio there is a rock fountain. The prayer rocks from the rehab clinic are placed at this fountain.
To get there: Exit the dining hall in the Sutter Rehab Clinic and you will find the rock fountain straight ahead.
