More About This Provider
I am an Osteopathic Physician (D.O.). This means I trained at an Osteopathic medical school. Training and education is similar to my colleagues who went to an Allopathic medical school (M.D.), with the exception of my additional training in osteopathic principles. I do not perform routine osteopathic manipulative therapies, however, I continue to use the foundation of my educational teachings to treat the patient as a whole, while exploring opportunities to provide preventative care. My interests center around acute resuscitation and transport medicine.
I am a Pediatric Critical Care Physician, also known as PICU doctor. I manage organ system failure. When your child is ill and needs help supporting one of their organ systems, my role becomes central to their care. This means your child will be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under close observation with a team of providers that can provide the level of support your child needs. I work with many pediatric subspecialists. As your child's central coordinator, I ensure they receive the most optimal care. I do not deliver babies. I am not a Neonatologist (NICU doctor), but at times both disciplines work together to help your child.
I combine mindful clinical judgment and leadership skills to apply, not only individualized, but also compassionate care to your child. I continually utilize evidence based medicine to ensure your child receives exceptional care without undergoing unnecessary tests and/or procedures. I actively prioritize house staff and patient education by teaching clinically relevant topics on a daily basis.
We here at Sutter Children's Medical Center in Sacramento strive daily to provide above standard care to your child. Our Pediatric ICU is a combined PICU/CVICU. We offer many degrees of high level support, not limited to but including ECMO, CRRT/Hemodialysis, High Frequency Ventilation, iNO. We perform complex congenital heart surgeries, including but not limited to single ventricle staged palliation. We have many pediatric surgical subspecialists who perform an array of complex surgical procedures. If your child is admitted following a surgical procedure to the PICU, we work closely with your surgeon to provide the best care possible. We have an amazing child life and supportive care team that remains pivotal in ensuring your family is well supported through this difficult time of your child’s life. We believe in caring for all domains of your child’s health.
