Philosophy of Care
Thank you for taking the time to visit my web page.
I was born in Virginia, but moved to California with my family as a child and attended school in San Jose. After high school, I attended U.C. Davis, where I studied neurobiology, physiology and behavior. Upon graduation, I ventured to the East Coast to Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Living in the Bronx was quite an experience, but one I would not trade. I am so thankful to have received my early medical training in such an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse city.
During my 3rd year of medical school, I fell in love with pediatrics. I liked the idea of taking care of a patient from birth until adulthood. I also enjoyed getting to know parents and families. For pediatric residency, I decided that I had enough of the cold northeast winters and decided to move back to the Bay Area. I chose Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland for its emphasis on community and primary care medicine. After I completed residency I stayed one extra year as Chief Resident to further hone my pediatric skills and gain leadership and teaching experience.
After many years of primarily hospital based medicine, I decided that the true reason I went into pediatrics was to work in a clinic setting where I would have the opportunity to watch my patients grow and participate in their health care through their entire childhood. I have found my ideal job at PAMF in Fremont! On a daily basis, I am amazed by the bright smiles, wild imaginations and simple honesty of your children, and could not imagine any other job for myself.
After having my son, I recognize that raising a child is one of the most challenging and rewarding endeavors. I also have a new perspective on all the worries and hopes that come along with being a new parent. I am here to support your child's normal growth and development and serve as a guide through times of illness. As your pediatrician, I hope that I may have the honor of making this experience a little less daunting. I look forward to meeting you and your children!
