Philosophy of Care
Welcome to my Web page. I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little about my background.
I grew up in the East Bay, in a little town called El Cerrito. I graduated from University of California at Davis and received a Bachelor of Science degree in food science/nutrition, with honors. After college, I decided to venture out to the East Coast and moved to New York, where I attended the University of Rochester Medical School. After four cold winters, I was ready to move back to sunny California. I completed my pediatric residency training at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Following my residency, I went on to pursue additional specialty training in pediatric infectious diseases at Oakland Children's Hospital.
I believe that being a good pediatrician means being a partner with parents. Taking care of your children is a great privilege to me. I hope to be able to help your children grow and thrive as healthy and happy individuals. I am trained in all areas of pediatrics, but do have special interest in newborn care and infectious diseases.
I am a proud mom of two children, so I know what it is like to be a busy parent. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, skiing and spending time with our families. I work four days a week. If your child has a problem that can wait a day or two, I ask that you try and make your appointment with me that fits within that schedule. Of course, if your child has an urgent issue, one of the other pediatricians will be happy to see you on the days I am not in the office.
If you are searching for a pediatrician, I recommend that you make an appointment for us to meet each other and for me to answer your questions. In addition to English, I am fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. In general, I want to be certain that all of your concerns are addressed at the end of each of your visits. If you forget to ask a question during your visit, you can leave a message for me, or for my medical assistant, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
