Philosophy of Care
I strive to provide high-quality surgical care for optimal outcomes to all my patients in a personal, compassionate manner. I engage patients in discussions about their care and empower them to share in the decision-making process. I believe that rather than just telling my patients what to do, it is important to provide informed options so that they can choose what fits best with their personal values, to the extent that it is safe and reasonable to do so. I really enjoy just about all of the interactions with my patients. I like explaining what is going on and helping them understand their general surgical issues. I welcome questions, because I believe that the more patients understand, the better able they are to care for themselves. Most of all, I enjoy working with my patients as a partner in their surgical care.
In addition to general surgery, I advanced my training many years ago by specializing in weight loss or bariatric surgery and in minimally invasive surgery for all surgeries. For weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery) patients, I put great effort into providing comprehensive and expert care with long-term follow-up, along with expert colleagues in the surgical treatment of obesity, one of my specialties. As part of the PAMF Weight Loss Surgery multidisciplinary team, I offer vertical sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass using the latest minimally invasive, robotic-assisted laparoscopic techniques.
Overall, with the recent advances in surgical technology at my disposal, I always look forward to offering the best of these important tools to aid in the care of all my patients.
