Philosophy of Care
I believe the secret to health is holistic health. To treat the patient completely, the patient needs to have a healthy body, a healthy mind, a healthy spirit, as well a healthy social connection and humanitarianism. I hope to engage my patients in preventing disease and should a problem arise, to empower my patients to take charge of their own health as well as to help identify which area, the body, the mind or the spirit, that needs to be addressed to regain health. I also believe in a healthy dose of humor and laughter as great medicine.
The quotes below from these noble people help summarize my philosophy of care.
“Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity. ” -Hippocrates
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” -Hippocrates
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." -Thomas Edison
“The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty -- it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality..." -Mother Teresa
