Philosophy of Care
I enjoy delivering babies and helping women to achieve the experience they would like to have during their pregnancy and delivery, whether that means a medication free childbirth experience with the help of a doula or early intervention with appropriate pain medication. I deliver over 90% of the pregnant women under my care and will come to the hospital to deliver a baby at night and on weekends even if I'm not on call. While keeping the health of the mother and her baby as the most important priority, there is often more than one option regarding decisions during pregnancy and at the time of the delivery. My goal is to give women the information they need to make an informed decision about these options. I will always provide guidance and give my opinion as to the preferred course of treatment, but respects a women's right to make her own choices in health care. I have a very strong interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery which comprises the majority of my surgical practice. Most common gynecologic problems such as heavy vaginal bleeding or pelvic pain can be treated medically or with minimally invasive alternatives to hysterectomy such as operative laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, or endometrial ablation. I'm very interested in using techniques for preemptive analgesia to decrease pain after surgery.
