Philosophy of Care
I believe the most important aspect of patient care is trust. For this reason, I always strive to treat every patient as if they were a close relative—my mother, father, sister, or brother. In addition, I believe in really listening carefully to my patients. It is astounding how many hidden diagnoses have been revealed through careful listening and a thorough physical examination.
Another very important aspect of patient care is good communication. Once patients really understand what their condition is about, they are able to fully collaborate in their treatment and functional restoration. Often, in my specialty, the underlying diagnoses or cause of pain and suffering can be quite complex.
For this very reason, I always strive to use every day language and easily understandable analogies when discussing diagnoses, test results, and treatment options. Good, clear, accurate communication is paramount for successful treatment of disease and disability. Finally, I believe in being positive and encouraging. I really love being a physician and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to help and care for the patients that have been entrusted to me.
