More About This Provider
I am an orthopedic surgeon with a practice focused on hip and knee surgery. My purpose is to help people of diverse backgrounds reduce joint pain and regain their desired level of physical activity. I strive to do this in a safe, seamless way, with the goal of excellent long-term outcomes. Most of my surgical practice is anterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and knee arthroscopy.
We achieve our goals through surgeon leadership, specialized clinical teams, and facilities dedicated to your care. This includes the infrastructure of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, and a long-standing partnership with local surgical facilities. Our group has presented research on anterior total hip replacement and digital patient-reported outcomes at national meetings and is now researching the intersection of total joint replacement and sporting activities. Our teams have modified our practices to keep you safe given the pandemic. This includes virtual care when appropriate, surgical center-based joint replacement, and streamlined transitions to home after surgery.
I have practiced in the SF Bay Area for more than a decade, over which time I have performed thousands of hip and knee replacements and a large volume of arthroscopic and sports medicine procedures about the knee. I graduated from Yale University where I was an All-Ivy lacrosse player, from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and completed an Orthopedic Residency at Georgetown University Hospital. I also completed two fellowships, one in joint replacement surgery and the other in orthopedic sports medicine, the former at Stanford University Hospital.

Personal Interests
The SF Peninsula has been home since coming to Stanford. My wife is a practicing plastic surgeon, and we are privileged to be raising a son and daughter together. Previously, I was a competitive lacrosse player with the Olympic Club of San Francisco. We now love exploring our beautiful open spaces, biking, skiing, and traveling.
