Sutter Health is proud of the time and energy our staff provides in the community to support health improvement efforts and other not for profit organizations. Our employees support our mission of improving the health of our communities through a variety of efforts, including: board membership; fundraising; physical labor; or by donating food, clothing, school supplies, or holiday gifts.
Holiday Adopt-A-Family
As part of our not-for-profit mission, Sutter Health has supported families in need through our Holiday Adopt-a-Family program for more than 10 years. The program spans the 9 counties in the Sutter Health Valley Area, where we partner with a different Family Resource Center in each region. Through this partnership, each year more than 250 families are adopted, serving over 1,500 individuals across the Valley.
Holiday Adopt-a-Family allows employees throughout our hospitals and care centers in the Valley Area the unique opportunity to generously provide needed supplies and gifts to less fortunate families in our region. Employees can choose to select a family individually to support, or they can gather a team or department to select one or multiple families to assist. Sutter Health’s donations help families who wouldn’t otherwise have the resources to celebrate the holidays.
Operation Backpack
Year after year, our compassionate colleagues show tremendous generosity by providing hundreds of backpacks and back-to-school materials during Sutter Health’s Operation Backpack drive.
Over 4900 students in need throughout Northern California and beyond started school year 2022-2023 with a new backpack filled with school supplies. This would not be possible without the sponsorship provided by Sutter Health.
Every year Volunteers of America partner with over 60 non-profits, school districts, service providers and teachers who receive backpacks distributed in their communities. Keeping the backpacks local is of high priority and this sponsorship makes that possible.
