When preparing for the birth of your child, it can be comforting and informative to tour the hospital where you plan to deliver your little one. At Sutter Davis Hospital, we encourage expectant parents to tour our labor and delivery rooms at least four to six weeks in advance of your child's birth.

We offer in-person tours every Thursday at 6:30 pm, according to the following schedule:

English tours are on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays, and Spanish tours are on the 1st Thursday.

There are no tours on the 5th Thursday if there are 5 Thursdays in the month. There is no tour on Thanksgiving.

Registration is required. To join one of our tours, please email SDHBirthCenterTours@sutterhealth.org with your desired tour date.

What to Bring With You to the Birthing Center

• Clothing — Comfortable clothing for labor, as well as for your postpartum stay. Hospital gowns are available as well.
• Swimsuit — If you choose to utilize the birthing tub, a sports bra, tank top, or swim suit top may be comfortable to wear. Clothing in the birthing tub for the mother in labor is optional. If your partner plans to join you in the tub, they should have a swimsuit or other clothing suitable to wear in the water.
• Baby Clothing — We will supply all the diapers, blankets, and supplies for changing and cleaning your baby during your stay in the hospital. Plan to bring clothing and a blanket for taking your baby home.
• Car seat — You will need to have an approved car seat to transport your baby home. In Yolo County, you can have your car seat inspected through the Car Seat Safety Coordinator. Make an appointment by calling (530) 666-8561. Otherwise, call your local Highway Patrol office.
• Music — A relaxing environment is important for your birth - background music can help create this environment. Consider bringing soothing music and a music player to set the tone.
• Snacks — Supplying snacks for your support team will help keep their energy high during labor. The hospital Cafeteria and vending machines offer many food options for purchase.
• Mints or Gum for Coaches — This may be an important consideration for those who are helping with your breathing techniques!
• Hair tie
• Flip flops or slippers
• Extra pillow
• Camera — Remember to bring back up batteries or a charger, as well as a memory card.
• Personal toiletries
• Cell phones and laptops are allowed in the room. In fact, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hospital campus. Landline phones are also available in each room.
