More About This Provider

Dr. Yung was raised in a family where music was encouraged and nurtured. She spent much of her time outside of school playing the violin and string bass, and singing in choirs. While earning her undergraduate degree at Stanford University, she continued her vocal studies and sang with the Stanford Chamber Chorale, the university’s premier small vocal ensemble. During her residency, Dr. Yung discovered her passion for Laryngology, which was the perfect blend of her interests in voice, music, and medicine. After completing her Laryngology fellowship, she joined the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

During her 10 years at UCSF, Dr. Yung distinguished herself as a clinician, surgeon, educator, and researcher. She was promoted to Associate Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology, served as acting Director of the UCSF Voice and Swallowing Center, and received the esteemed Sooy Award for Clinical Excellence.

In 2018, she founded San Francisco Voice & Swallowing, which earned national and international recognition as a center for gender-affirming voice care, professional voice, and other voice, swallowing, and airway disorders. In 2025, she left SFVS to join Sutter Health’s comprehensive Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery program as director of Laryngology.
